Three weeks to the Spring 2017 Budget…

15 February 2017

Chancellor Phillip Hammond will deliver his next Budget on Wednesday 8th March. Interestingly, this will be the last Budget to take place in the Spring, as Mr Hammond announced at the last Autumn Statement that all future Budgets will take place in the final quarter of the year. The UK is the only major advanced economy to make changes to the tax system twice a year, and economists and tax experts like the International Monetary Fund, Institute for Government, the CBI, Chartered Institute of Taxation and the IFS have all been calling for this to be reduced to a single annual fiscal update to promote certainty and stability.

Little has been predicted to date on what the Chancellor may reveal next month, but given ongoing uncertainty over #Brexit scope and timetable, it’s certainly a speech to watch.
